What's New April 11, 2008Congratulations to Pretty Princesses and Dirty Lines for winning the tournament in their respective divisions. See you next year! April 3, 2008 Hello Everyone. Hope everyone enjoyed the league play of volleyball. Please pass this email on to your teammates that are playing in the tournament. Tournament ***Please bring your gym keys on Saturday if you do not plan on returning next year or you think you will lose them. Also don't forget to bring your volleyballs.*** The tourney is in the same place as last year at the Student Rec Center (SRC) @UBC. 6000 University Blvd (next to the SUB Building). The parking lot I found that was cheapest is the covered parking just off of Westbrook Mall road when coming up from 4th street. There is a lot of construction recently so I am not sure if it is still there. As usual, there will be muffins, donuts and bagels in the foyer. No food or drinks are allowed on the gym floor. If we start on time we will be finished between 2:15pm-4:00pm, depending on when you are eliminated. Wednesday teams please show up at 9:30am. This Won't Take Long can show up at 10:00am for winning the regular season. (1st round bye) We will have round robin play taking 20 minutes with 5 minutes in between games. Knockout play will be best of 3 matches (like league play except upto 21). The top team of round robin play will have a first round playoff bye. If there is a tie, then whoever won between the two teams will get the higher seed. If there are more than two teams tied then the team with the best point differential of all their games gets the higher seed. Monday teams Dirty Lines and Vertically Challenged please show up at 11:30am and start play at 11:45am. You can warm up on your Court 4. Net Crashers can show up around 12:15pm. Since their are only three teams playing you will have a round robin but play your full matches to 25 like league play (3 games even if you win the first two) The playoff game will then be the top two teams. If there is a tie between 1st, 2nd and 3rd we will go to the point differential of all your games. Wrap-up Wrap-up will be the same place as last year at Mahony & Sons. (5990 University Blvd.) We have the upper floor reserved for us and have pitchers of Canadian or Kokanee for $15.00. Please let the servers know you are with the Volleyball League to get these prices. Every team showing up will get a free pitcher of Canadian or Kokanee (I will buy it when I get there or will reimburse you.) The winning team of each Division will also get an additional pitcher of beer and an appy of their choice. We will also have a few appies, pitchers and some prizes to give away as well. There is a Canuck-Calgary hockey game at 7pm, which may or may not mean something at that time. Hope everyone has fun and good luck! If the floor is dusty we are required to sweep it. Pay attention to the schedule before you come so you know which teams you are playing. Please bring your own volleyballs. Respect the other team and your teammates and come on time. We have rental as per hour so games should start on the hour. Other groups have until the full hour is up but our time starts then.
