April 6, 2010 Hello Everyone, Another season of indoor is done. Below are the details of the tournament and wrapup. Please pass this email on to your teammates that are playing in the tournament. ***Please bring your gym keys on Saturday. Also don't forget to bring your volleyballs.*** Tournament Details: Location: Heritage Woods Secondary School, 1300 David Avenue, Port Moody It is really easy to get there. Take the Barnet hwy. Turn left on St. Johns St. (major light where almost everyone turns left). Then turn left on Ioco Rd. (Esso station and road bends here). Then go straight up the hill (Heritage Mountain Blvd) for about 3.5 km and the school is at the top (road ends at a round-about) To view your map, click on the link below or copy and paste it to your browser: http://www.mapquest.com/mq/6-b4k6 Date and Time: Be there at 10:00am Saturday April 10, 2010 Enter at the right side of the school by the gymnasium. As usual, there will be muffins, donuts, bagels and fruit in the foyer when you arrive. No food or drinks are allowed on the gym floor. If we start on time we will be finished between 2:45pm-4:15pm, depending on when you are eliminated. Lunch will be about 45 minutes starting around 1pm. We will have round robin play taking 20 minutes with 10 minutes in between games. If there is a tie, then whoever won between the two teams will get the higher seed. If there are more than two teams tied then the team with the best point differential of all their games gets the higher seed. The top two teams of round robin play will have a first round playoff bye. Playoff play will be best of 3 matches (like league play except upto 21). The winning team will also get an additional pitcher of beer and an appy of their choice. (I will reimburse you for that.) There is a Canuck/Calgary hockey game at 7pm if you are still at the pub. Info: The Vancouver Volleyball League is a non-profit league that collects monies only for gym times, insurance, banking, and the rest goes toward food for the end of the year tournament. Below is an outline for the league.
Start Date: Mon. Oct. 5/09 and Wed. Oct. 7/09 End Date: @ Mon. Apr 5/2010 and Wed. Apr. 7/2010 End of Year Tournament: @ Sat. Apr. 10/2010 (in Port Moody)
Gym Location: Jericho Hill Community Centre, 4196 W. 4th Ave. Gym Times: Mondays 8-10pm Wednesdays 7-8pm Playing Time: You play 2 hours Monday or 1 hour on Wednesday Competition: Co-ed 6's, min. 2 girls, "A" Calibre teams, total # of teams: 6 Playing Format: Double matches (1 team/hour), best of 3 upto 25 rally point (depending on time 3rd game upto 15)
League Breaks: We will take time off at Christmas.
Cost for the Fall 2009 and Spring 2010 League is $960/team including a wrapup tournament at the end of the year.
Note this league is generally self-run.
